Flex Statement | Benefits of No Tax on Tips Policy for App-Based Workers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 1, 2026

The following statement is for attribution to Flex CEO Kristin Sharp:

“Today we mark a milestone for the American worker: a year since the enactment of the No Tax on Tips (NTOT) provision into law.

New data from Morning Consult and Flex shows the policy is delivering meaningful financial benefits for America's app-based rideshare and delivery workers. Among app-based workers who claimed the No Tax on Tips deduction, 69% said they paid less in taxes compared to last year, including 47% who said they paid noticeably less.

On behalf of the app-based industry and its 23 million independent workers, we thank Chairman Smith and the Ways & Means Committee for ensuring app-based earners were included in the No Tax on Tips legislation. This victory for app-based drivers and couriers is an important step toward ensuring all workers are treated fairly, regardless of how they earn a living.

This tax relief has strengthened the financial well-being of app-based workers, many of whom rely on flexible work to balance caregiving, school, traditional jobs, military service, retirement, and countless other responsibilities. No Tax on Tips demonstrates that public policy can recognize and support the unique realities of today's workforce.”
