Director of Policy

Flex is seeking a mid-level professional to advance the trade organization’s policy priorities.

The Director of Policy will:

  • Serve as point to track key federal and state regulatory initiatives that affect Flex’s member companies and the broader app-based economy
  • Work with member companies drive regulatory advocacy strategies
  • Serve as point on Flex research initiatives—including surveys and polls—that support industry policy priorities at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Distill original research into easily understandable stats, fact sheets, and create collateral on behalf of the industry
  • Write clear, concise policy briefs, issue briefings, and other reports that communicate policy information to a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers and industry partners.
  • Assist in drafting advocacy materials such as press releases, blog posts, and newsletters.
  • Contribute to Congressional advocacy, including engaging with staff as necessary.
  • Present Flex positions in public at forums, events, and official meetings.
 

 Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years relevant work experience in federal/state policy.
  • Understanding of regulatory processes and the legislative environment impacting the app-based platform economy
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and engaging manner
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough research, analyze policy implications, write and synthesize information clearly, and generate actionable insights and communications 
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a trade association, think tank, or advocacy organization.
  • Law degree and/or experience in labor, consumer protection, antitrust, and tech policy (AI).
  • Independent judgment and ability to identify challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience organizing and structuring research projects for advocacy purposes.
  • Ability to execute successful policy strategies with a dynamic set of member companies.
  • High energy and willingness to play a flexible role in a small but growing team.
