Flex Statement on FTC’s Proposed Junk Fee Regulation

Today, in response to the FTC’s consumer protection proposal on junk fees, Kristin Sharp, CEO of Flex issued the following statement:

“Every day, app-based platforms compete in a dynamic market to offer consumers the best possible experience – including during the ordering process. Platforms clearly communicate and disclose the fees they charge so consumers can make informed choices before they place an order. These fees reflect costs associated with fulfilling consumers’ orders, supporting restaurant and retail partners, compensating app-based workers, and developing new pro-consumer features and offerings.

We look forward to working with policymakers to ensure that app-based platforms can continue delivering benefits for workers, consumers, restaurants, and other businesses.”
