A new survey from the Flex Association, conducted in partnership with Morning Consult, found that 69 percent of app-based rideshare and delivery drivers saw savings on their taxes when they claimed the No Tax on Tips provision, with 42 percent of respondents reporting significant savings.
"This survey confirms what app-based drivers and couriers already know - No Tax on Tips is delivering more money in the pockets of the hardworking Americans who keep our economy moving,” said Kristin Sharp, CEO of Flex. "For too long, app-based drivers and couriers have been left out of the policy conversations that affect them most. This data shows that No Tax on Tips is making a real, measurable difference in their financial lives. We look forward to building on this win and continuing to work with policymakers to strengthen independent work."
The survey marks the first Tax Day that drivers were able to take advantage of No Tax on Tips, an effort championed by Flex for recognizing non-traditional, self-employed workers. The provision allows eligible individuals to deduct up to $25,000 in tipped income from their federal income taxes.
